The Helsinki based Puppet Theatre Sampo was founded in 1977. Masterly use of different puppet theatre techniques combined with intensive musical presence are special characteristics of the Sampo theatrical art. Temporary exhibitions in the gallery. The café Sampon Satumainen Kahvila is located in the theatre. In the theatre premises is also the Puppet Theatre Museum and Sininen Galleria. The theatre also organizes annually an international festival for puppet theatre and visual theatre. SAMPO Festival is always at the end of August.
Puppet Theatre Sampo is a professional puppet theatre in Helsinki, founded in 1977. Sampo offers something for everyone: puppet theatre and music clubs, workshops and courses, domestic and international visits for both children and adults. At the theatre you will also find Sampo’s Fairytale Café. The theatre also houses a puppet theatre museum and the Blue Gallery with changing art and photography exhibitions.
Sampo performs regularly in cultural and community centres around the capital region. The theatre’s own performances always include live music, which is one of Sampo’s trademarks. Over the years, many of the performances have become beloved classics for the audience, which are watched again and again. The repertoire entails also nonverbal performances, suitable for everybody.
The puppet theatre shop sells literature, recordings and puppet theatre equipment for use by homes, daycare centres, schools and theatre enthusiasts.
