Day 1: Arrive and explore

Welcome to the first day of your Vallila itinerary! Check in and get to know your new neighbourhood. It’s all about the street life here, so get out there, grab a coffee / a tea / a beer / a juice… (hey, this is your itinerary!) and get ready to explore!

Grab a bike

Two wheels is a great way to see loads of local architecture, and the wind in your hair will put a smile on your beautiful face. Rent a city bike from one of the many stations, and take it all in.

Grill and hang out at Teurastamo

When you’re hungry, head to Teurastamo, a local hotspot for outdoor grilling and people watching. You can throw your own favs on the public barbecue, or check out the street food and drinks on offer at The Old Abattoir.

Wind down with a drink

Next on your itinerary to Vallila, enjoy the evening at vibey beer gardens and neighbourhood bars. Check out local favourites Pikku-Vallila, Vallilan Panimo and/or the newly opened Olarin Panimo taproom at nearby Konepaja. It’s easy to find alcohol-free options too.

Day 2: Culture and entertainment

If you’re the kind of person who might start your day with an energising yoga session, do it! There are plenty of options, even with an imperfect Vallila itinerary. Afterwards (or instead) refuel at a local café. Roots Café does great healthy breakfasts or, if you fancy a sweet treat, try the fresh cardamom rolls at Kahvila Päijänne.

Moody Monday* Flea Market

It’s the second day on your itinerary to Vallila, time to treat yourself and get a souvenir? Enjoy a stroll around Moody Monday’s, popping with unique items and the local creative community. *Don’t be disappointed by the name – Moody’s is open every day of the week.

Linnanmäki Amusement Park

You deserve an afternoon dedicated to fun and thrills. So ar the skies on Taiga , the newest ride at Helsinki’s iconic Linnanmäki Amusement Park , and don’t forget your rain poncho if you want to try the Hurjakuru. There are rides, games, and attractions for all ages. And entrance to the park is free.

Dinner and rooftop views

Dinner time? Plein gets our vote, and H’NOI Bistro is incredible, but there are so many options in Vallila. After dinner, it’s always a winner to head up to the Konepaja area for a rooftop bar and take in the views as the sun sets over the city.

Evening entertainment

Join the locals dancing the night away in clubs like Ääniwalli, Playhouse or Koko Jazz Club. If that’s not for you, relax with a movie at late-night cinema at Kino Konepaja.

Day 3: chill, and say moi moi (that’s Finnish for “bye bye”)

It’s the morning of your last day in Helsinki, and it’s time to make the cement the memories of your itinerary to Vallila. Grab a coffee ( Design Café and Vallila Coffee Roastery both make a real good cup) and step back into the 1900s — or at least their streets — in Puu-Vallila (Wooden Vallila). These charming wooden houses and gardens are still in use today, and are one of the many things that make Vallila different.

Brunch and farewell

Enjoy a leisurely brunch (check out Albina & Aleksis or Pikku-Vallila ) before catching your train to the airport. It’s less than 30 mins from Pasila station. Or stay another day?
