Foraging walks in Helsinki

Seurasaarentie, 00250 Helsinki
Organiser: Foraging with Anna
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Price: 34 - 43 €

There are enormous amounts of superfoods growing in the nearby forests of Helsinki Capital Region – wild and free! I welcome you to learn about Finnish wild herbs and vegetables. I take you to visit the beautiful Northern nature of ours and teach you to identify the most common and delicious wild foods.

A wild herb walk is an adventure in the local nature and during it you will learn about the healing effects and fascinating tastes of herbs growing in the wild. This foraging walk is a great way to learn about the nutritional factors, medicinal effects and biology of wild plants. In addition, during the adventure you’ll hear fascinating stories about folk traditions and the magical effects of the plants. During these walks participants will also realize how wild plants can be easily used in home cooking. The workshop covers about 10-20 plants, depending on the location and the level of expertise of the group. After the walk, participants will receive an e-book about wild herbs in Finland so they can continue their studies at home.

The foraging workshops include:
• Learning to identify and use the most common Finnish wild herbs & vegetables in season safely
• Learning about preserving plants - drying, blanching, and freezing
• Understanding everyone's rights and the importance of sustainable foraging
