At May's Ax Goes Jazzy, vibraphonist Ilkka Uksila will have trumpeter virtuoso Vid Šketa and bass artist Mikael Saastamoinen as guests.
Šketa's tradition-conscious expressive power has so far been heard in e.g. Euroradio Big Band and Umo Jazz Orchestra. Artists and bands such as Linda Fredriksson, OK:KO and Katu Kaiku trust Mikael's solid bassism.
Ilkka Uksila is best known for his own band Uxila Exile and his work in the ensembles Tomi Nikku 5tet, The Watercolors and Uusi Jazzi Klubi. The focus of the Ax Goes Jazzy club is the meeting of good energy and distinctive jazz improvisation in an atmospheric space.
