Baroque Ensemble All´Improvviso

In the concert of All´Improvviso compositions and improvisations called "grounds" will be heard. 

They are from the 17th and 18th century Italy, England and France, composers are Marini, Banchieri, Storace and Marais. 
What is a "ground"? It is a bass line/chord progression on which the compositions and improvisations of this concert are based.
