When the collections of the zoology unit of the Finnish Museum of Natural History moved into their current building on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu in 1923, it marked the birth of the Natural History Museum. The centenary of the museum is celebrated in many ways this year, including with the recently opened Festival in the Forest exhibition.

The exhibition displays research on insects, bird and bat monitoring, taxidermy, zoological collections, digitisation, and exhibition activities. In other words, it covers everything that currently goes on in the museum building! Moreover, it includes a section on ways in which each and every one of us can impact biodiversity.
