Wilma-Emilia Kuosa: Cage Opera
Cage Opera is Wilma-Emilia Kuosa’s narrative jazz dance work, which interprets the tragedy of the artist’s second poetry novel (Cage Opera, Basam Books 2022). The autofictional work reveals a harsh truth from the perspective of a person whose loved one has been imprisoned.

Thomas Freundlich: Dreamcatcher
Tanja Illukka unleashes a stream of imaginative movement in the solo performance Dreamcatcher. The performance is a journey through a chaotic mental landscape, where one can never know what lies around the corner. Dreamcatcher, choreographed by Thomas Freundlich, won the Public Choice Award at the International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart in March 2005 as well as a second award in the Best Dancer category.

Power of Dance Festival
A spectrum of dance at Kanneltalo! The Power of Dance Festival, held in September, features ballet, jazz dance, dance theatre, contemporary dance and integrated dance.

The festival offers performances by top artists at two locations. Kanneltalo will present Minna Tervamäki’s Heaven’s Gate. In August, Suomenlinna will present Willman Dance Company’s Äijä.

The Power of Dance Festival has been organised since 2015 with the aim of providing a platform for repeat performances in the Finnish dance scene. Alternately, the festival is aimed one year at adults and the other year at families with children.
