The popular cultural environment-themed lectures at the Helsinki City Museum continue. The last lecture will be given by Researcher Tuija Väisänen. The lecture will be held in Finnish.

Studies were carried out around the Havis Amanda statue from the summer of 2023 until the winter of 2024. Archaeologists both documented the foundation of Havis Amanda and conducted actual archaeological research in the excavations area. The studies documented cultural layers and structures and recovered plenty of artefacts from the 19th century to the 17th century.

Studies were also carried out in the area of the House of the Estates during the autumn and winter, and various signs of life from the northern part of the city were found in the area.

Tuija Väisänen, MA, works as a researcher in the Archaeological Field Services department of the National Board of Antiquities.

The lectures will be streamed live on the Helsinki City Museum's Facebook channel, so you can also follow the events remotely. Welcome!
