Laulu-Miehet performs works of famous Finnish composers commissioned or premiered by Laulu-Miehet during their 110-year life in the Finnish choral scene. The concert is one of the most important choral events in Helsinki this spring.
The concerts includes works of e.g. Jean Sibelius, Toivo Kuula and Leevi Madetoja and many other Finnish choral composers.
In the second part of the concert Ylioppilaskunnan Soittajat (Helsinki University Symphony Orchestra) takes the stage for the performance of three rarely heard Finnish works for male choir and orchestra: Koskenlaskijan morsiamet (Sibelius), Aslak Smaukka (Madetoja) and Karhunpyynti (Kalervo Tuukkanen).
