Photofuss: Real

Kaapeliaukio 3, 00180 Helsinki
Finnish Museum of Photography

Art collective Photofuss approaches the various undersides of everyday life, pondering both darkness and illumination in this versatile group exhibition.

Real is an exhibition that dives deeper than the surface of reality, plays with the boundaries of photography, unearths utopias, and looks for convergences of realities in reflections. The works in the exhibition are united by the effort to conceptualise the experience of reality. Realistic, surrealistic, abstract, and minimal figurative languages invite the viewer to interpret reality in different ways. In some of the works a move towards alternative ways of seeing, experiencing and being is in the centre, while other works look at the surrounding society and contemplate its state.

Photofuss is the Finnish Museum of Photography's in-house collective of young artists. The group was formed to provide rising talents the opportunity to carry out photocultural phenomena through collaborative artistry. Their activities are based in experimentation and exploration, guided by collective conceptions, ideas, and interests.

Photofuss designs, curates, and produces its own exhibitions. The group comes together for one year at a time, and open applications to join are solicited through the FMP each autumn.
