The Shit Kickers: Spoon River – Songs from six feet under

Kaikukatu 4, Helsinki, 00530 Helsinki
Cultural Centre Caisa

Cemeteries are full of epitaphs carved in stone. However, they were usually written by someone else and embellished from inside and out. What stories would you hear, if the deceased could talk?

It remains obscure what kind of life the departed led and how they felt inside. Spoon River anthology by Edgar Lee Masters (1868–1950) is a collection of free-verse poems, where the deceased of a small American town narrate their lives as they experienced them.

This concert features songs inspired by the poems in the anthology and a variety of music from earthy country to Finnish folk.
