Concert of an American choir from University of North Florida, joined by the Sibelius High School Chamber Choir

29 singers from Florida will perform at the charming and renowned St. John's Church.  The American singers will be welcomed by the local Sibelius High School Choir with whom they will also share some songs for a wonderful evening of music and friendship as the music always builds bridges. The American choir will be joined by the local Chamber Choir of Sibelius High School headed by remarkable Maija Laurinsilta.

University of North Florida has one of the most important ensemble of their area, and they typically perform ten to twenty concerts throughout the academic year. Their repertoire covers a wide range of styles, from Monteverdi to Whitacre to Britten, and also spans the genres of world music and vocal jazz.

Dr. Cara Tasher, conductor, has served as director of choral studies at the University of North Florida since 2006 relishing the opportunity to provide relevant life and professional experiences for her students in Jacksonville and around the world.

The local choir will open the concert with a piece of own repertoire and will join the Floridians in the joint piece.
