Goldsmith of the Year 2026

Mauri Haapamäki, founder of Aspenhill Design Oy, represents the rare and rapidly disappearing silversmithing tradition in Finland.

Silversmithing, one of the related professions within the goldsmithing industry, involves the traditional handcrafted production of large silver objects using techniques such as spinning, hammering and raising.

With this year’s selection, the Finnish Goldsmiths’ Association wishes to highlight the demanding and significant craftsmanship of silversmithing, a profession that is increasingly under threat within the goldsmithing industry. 

It is a craft that requires an exceptional level of skill and expertise – knowledge that can only be acquired through years of experience and practice.
