Jyrki Tammi: Listen for a Moment

Oct 13 – 24, 2026

Galleria Kookos

Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 17, 00100 Helsinki

“My works explore nature and the human being through oil, acrylic, and mixed-media painting. I begin my process with forms found in nature. Rather than depicting landscapes in the traditional sense, I start with an abstract texture, usually inspired by an element of nature: flowing water, the sky, earth, snow, or ice.

The sounds of nature—the rustling of trees, flowing water, or birdsong—have a calming effect and help us detach from everyday life. In nature, sounds themselves are part of silence. They invite to stop and sense what the planet is whispering.

Through my works, I bring my own experience of silence to the downstairs exhibition space of Galleria Kookos. This intimate and peaceful space can encourage visitors to pause, step away from excessive sensory stimulation, and experience art through a sense of presence in the moment.”
