Ragu

Ludviginkatu 3-5, 00130 Helsinki

Ravintola Ragu opened its doors in April 2014 and has since established its place in Helsinki’s restaurant world. The neo-Renaissance house from the beginning of the 1890s, renovated with respect for history, offers a wonderful setting for a restaurant where Scandinavian flavors and seasonal ingredients are accompanied by the best Italian wines. A restaurant opened for the first time in the premises of Ludviginkatu, which takes advantage of both the beautiful, atmospheric halls and the year-round terrace. The kitchen team has created Ragu’s menu, drawing from the Italian food tradition and respecting Scandinavian ingredients. Ragu means long stewing, and the theme can be seen on the menu: intense and long-simmered flavours are especially evident in the meat dishes, the kitchen has designed menu sets whose dishes emphasize local specialties and the change of seasons. With more than 100 seats, Ragu also serves those who drop in without a reservation if possible. The service is refined but uncomplicated and warm. Passion for Italy can be seen most strongly in the wine list, and with the exception of champagne, Ragu has only Italian wines. More than half of the wines on the wine list are self-imported, focusing on Northern and Central Italian wines. Ragu is a unique combination of the centre of Helsinki and your own peace. The interior of the atmospheric dining rooms is completed by wonderful art. The renovation of the valuable property and the interior of the restaurant were designed by architect Iiris Ulin and Kaheli Design.
