The film 100 Liters of Gold is a comedy set in Sysmä, the sahti farmhouse ale capital of the world, where sisters Pirkko (Elina Knihtilä) and Taina (Pirjo Lonka) have continued their family’s long tradition of brewing sahti.
In the village, everyone wants their share of the famous drink – even if they can’t always pay for it. The third member of the sibling trio – Päivi (Ria Kataja) – makes a surprise visit home and asks her sisters to brew no less than hundred litres of this liquid gold for her wedding. Pirkko and Taina get to work to brew a perfect batch of sahti. Both their family relationships and reputation are at stake. However, sampling the product – an integral part of the brewing process – gets a little out of hand, and the whole batch of this Sysmä gold ends up poured down the throats of the brewers themselves and the villagers. With less than two days to go until the wedding, the sisters must find a way to deliver the sahti they have promised. A battle against the clock begins, and the sisters are determined to fix the situation by any means necessary.
