For the duration of Helsinki Festival, Esplanade Park hosts the exhibition AI Helsinki by Kevin Abosch. Abosch is an Irish conceptual artist, who endeavors to distill emotional value from his subjects through photography and various technological methods including AI.  An acclaimed portrait photographer, Abosch extensively photographed the people and scenery of Helsinki in spring 2024, taking hundreds of thousands of photos and working with AI to create “photographic” images of people and locations in Helsinki that do not really exist.

The AI Helsinki exhibition at Helsinki Festival is facilitated by the support of Helsingin Sanomat. Helsingin Sanomat’s journalism explores the effects of AI on society and the media.

Kevin Abosch is also known for the RYJ works, created based on Finnish ryijy wall-hangings with the help of AI, which are part of Helsinki Festival’s visual look.

The exhibition opens to the audience on Night of the Arts on 15 August at 6 p.m. and remains open for the duration of Helsinki Festival from 15 August until 1 September.
