Food Through the Ages – A Culinary Journey Across the Centuries

The House of Nobility is filled with culinary history in an exhibition that combines objects, recipes, menus, and photographs from the 17th to the 20th century.

At the exhibition, visitors gain insight into how the kitchen, cooking, utensils, and the meal itself both influenced and were influenced by their time.

The objects, textiles, and furniture featured in the exhibition have been loaned from private homes, manor houses, and antique shops around Finland.

In the rooms filled with antique kitchen utensils, tableware, gleaming copper pots, pewter vessels, worn baking tables, and period furnishings, visitors gain insight into manor house kitchen environments, learn about food culture, and find inspiration in materials and forms.

During the daytime, the exhibition is complemented by a café offering everything from meat-filled pastries in broth and cinnamon buns to macarons and mazarins, while the historical dinners present flavors and dinner entertainment from centuries past.
