DreamWorks Animation has previously brought audiences stories of unforgettable bonds between a boy and a dragon in the How to Train Your Dragon films, between an ogre and a donkey in the Shrek films, and between a robot and a gosling in The Wild Robot. Now, get ready for a moving story about two best friends who must join forces when faced with the threat of separation in the film Forgotten Island.

The new original story was written and directed by Oscar nominee Joel Crawford in collaboration with Januel Mercado. The producer is Oscar nominee Mark Swift. The same team also worked on the film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Grammy and Oscar-winning superstar H.E.R. and Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein, Alone/Together) star as Jo and Raissa, a pair of high school graduates. They have been best friends since primary school, but now life threatens to separate them.

While celebrating their last evening together, Jo and Raissa come across a mysterious portal that transports them to the mystical island of Nakali. The island is full of magical and mythical creatures that the friends’ Filipino families have been telling stories about.

Their new acquaintances include both friends and foes. With the help of Raww (Dave Franco), a well-meaning but rather hapless were-aspin, and a small but feisty group of other pals, Jo and Raissa take on the terrifying Manananggal (Tony Award-winning icon Lea Salonga), the island’s most feared creature. Upon realising that the price of returning home is losing all of their shared memories, Jo and Raissa must find a way to escape the island without forgetting each other.
